Privacy Policy

Short version: ZenRead is designed to keep your data on your device. The free tier sends nothing to any server. Pro features require a Google account and use Stripe for payments — we store only what's needed to run those features. We don't sell your data, run ads, or track your reading habits.

Free Tier

If you use ZenRead without subscribing to Pro, no data leaves your device. Your books, quotes, notes, and name are stored in local SQLite on your phone. No account is created. No analytics are collected. The app works entirely offline.

The only network requests made by the free tier are:

Neither request includes any personal information or account identifiers.

Pro Tier

Pro features (OCR scanning, ISBN lookup, cross-device sync) require a Google account and a paid subscription. When you subscribe, we collect and store:

We do not store payment card details. All payment processing is handled by Stripe, which is PCI-compliant.

Data Storage

Pro library data is stored on a private server. Auth tokens are stored in your device's encrypted keychain (Expo SecureStore), not in plain storage.

We do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or crash reporting tools that collect personal information.

Data Deletion

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account. This permanently removes your Google ID, email, subscription record, and all synced library data from our server. Your local on-device data is not affected.

To delete only your local data, use Settings → Data → Clear all data.

Third-Party Services

Children

ZenRead is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
